What to Bring to Rehab

When you’re preparing for a stay, knowing what to bring to rehab can help things go smoothly for you and ensure you feel comfortable and prepared.

We look forward to welcoming you to your new life of purpose and recovery. If you’re wondering what to bring to rehab, we’ve put together a list of recommended items to ensure you have everything you need during your treatment experience. During your stay, we recommend that you bring the following:

Please thoroughly read and adhere to the following guidelines. Your bags will be inspected for prohibited items during the admissions process. Any items not allowed will either be sent home or held on-site until discharge and will not be accessible during treatment.

Clothing

  • Enough clothing for 7 days:  shirts, pants, shorts, undergarments
  • Sleepwear, robe, slippers
  • Shoes or sandals
  • Workout attire for indoors and outdoors if you plan on participating in physical activities
  • Weather appropriate outdoor gear (jacket, hat, sunglasses, scarf, gloves, boots, etc.)
  • Note: All items must fit into one full-sized suitcase, duffle bag, or other bag. Additionally, one small personal-sized bag (approximately the size of a backpack) and a bag to protect your technology (e.g., laptop) are allowed.

 

For the appropriateness of our co-ed and recovery environment, we recommend leaving the following clothing at home:
  • Tube tops, halter tops, spaghetti strap tops, low-cut tops, and open side shirts*
  • Clothing that advertises/promotes drug, alcohol, or tobacco use, bars or gambling, or has sexual, gang, or violent connotations
  • Torn, ripped, see-through clothing, or items with holes exposing private body parts
  • Shorts that are shorter than mid-thigh*

*These items are allowed if worn in your bedroom.

Personal Hygiene Items

No aerosols and no liquids with alcohol listed as a primary ingredient (e.g., mouthwash or hand sanitizer).

  • Toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss
  • Body wash, shampoo, conditioner if you prefer something other than what we provide
  • Hair care products, hairbrush, comb
  • Face wash
  • Lotion
  • Deodorant
  • Shaving supplies 
  • Nail file and clippers
  • Flat iron, curling iron
  • Contacts and contact solution
  • Sunscreen
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Reading glasses
  • Hearing aids
  • Other medical devices (as approved by nursing)

*must be new, unopened, and the first three ingredients must not contain alcohol or its derivative.

A small supply of essentials will be available if you forget something.

Miscellaneous

  • Books are allowed but limit the quantity and be mindful of the topic and content. We also have a large library of books
  • Bibles or other faith and recovery texts are encouraged
  • Journal, pens, or pencils
  • Art supplies such as coloring books or markers
  • Reusable water bottle
  • List of emergency contacts and important phone numbers
  • Photo ID and insurance card
  • Watch for keeping track of time
  • Laptop, headphones, charging cable (if desired)
  • Earplugs or sleep mask if you’re a light sleeper
  • Laundry detergent (new, unopened) if something other than what is provided is desired
  • Snacks (unopened), within reason – check with facility for specifics; some snacks are provided daily in addition to three fully prepared meals
  • A small amount of cash for incidentals, e.g. vending machine or trips to the store*

*Trips to Walmart or Target are offered weekly. Additionally, Amazon orders are allowed for permissible items; all packages must be delivered to the Front Office for opening and inspection. 

Medications and Supplements

  • Any prescription medications in their original bottles
  • Over-the-counter medications, supplements (as allowed by the facility), and tobacco and vape products must be in new, unopened containers
  • Bring an updated list of your current medications. We will retain and give you all your medications during your stay, including over-the-counter medications, with some exceptions (e.g., nicotine replacement, Epi pen, nitroglycerin, etc. you may keep with you)

What We Provide

  • A Bible and/or 12-Step literature will be provided if requested
  • Games, movies, books, puzzles
  • Outdoor recreation equipment
  • Towels and washcloths
  • Sheets, bedding, and pillows
  • Tissues and toilet paper
  • Hand soap
  • Body wash, shampoo, conditioner
  • Laundry detergent 
  • Meals
  • Coffee

Prohibited Items

  • Vehicle (no parking on campus)
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Illegal drugs, paraphernalia, or products containing alcohol or THC
  • Gambling-specific games
  • Items with sexually suggestive content or photos
  • Candles, incense, perfume, cologne
  • Aerosol cans (dry shampoo, hairspray, body spray, room spray, etc.)
  • Unsealed hygiene products
  • Personal DVDs
  • Extension cords or power strips
